HydroLAB
University of Naples Federico II · Led by Prof. Salvatore Manfreda
Mission & Vision
HydroLAB bridges process-based hydrology, geomorphology, remote sensing, and data-driven modelling to address critical challenges in water resource management, flood hazard assessment, and environmental monitoring. The laboratory develops scalable, physically-grounded tools and methods—from the Geomorphic Flood Index to image velocimetry algorithms—designed to be effective in both data-rich and data-scarce environments worldwide.
A core commitment is to open science: all major tools, datasets, and software produced by HydroLAB are freely available, enabling researchers, students, and practitioners across the globe to apply and extend these methods for their own contexts.
