Author: Salvatore Manfreda

He is Full Professor of Hydrology and Hydraulic Constructions at the University of Naples Federico II. He is currently chair of the IAHS MOXXI working group. His research primarily centers on hydrological modeling and monitoring. Recognizing the challenges posed by the complexity and limitations of traditional hydrological observations, he actively explores advanced and alternative monitoring techniques, such as the utilization of Unmanned Aerial Systems (UAS) coupled with image processing.

I’m proud to announce that our recent paper “Current Practices in UAS-based Environmental Monitoring” has been awarded with the Best Paper Award 2022 by Remote Sensing MDPI. This paper has been the result of a joint…

The e-book of the book “Appunti di Idrologia Superficiale” published by Editrice Aracne is now available online.  SUMMARY: The text offers insights and insights into surface hydrological processes and with particular reference to the water-soil interaction,…

We had the great pleasure to meet, during our COST Action – HARMONIOUS General Assembly in Debrecen, the StoolTechnologies that has developed a new UAS with a payload of about 70kg and a fly autonomy of 1 hour. The new…

This set of three documents represents a blueprint of an Operations Manual for UAS operations (OM) in Environmental Studies targeting environmental studies, accompanied by an Emergency Response Plan (ERP) and an example of UAS operation description and risk assessment…

AD2 model is a Java-based software application for hydrological simulation at the catchment scale, developed at the University of Basilicata (Potenza, Italy). It implements the conceptual rainfall-runoff model originally proposed by Fiorentino & Manfreda (2004), extended…

Measuring object displacement and deformation in image sequences is an important task in remote sensing, photogrammetry and computer vision and a vast number of approaches have been introduced. In the field of environmental sciences, applications…
