Sustain Naples 2028 brings the international Sustain community to the shores of the Bay of Naples for three days of science, exchange and policy on the future of our water systems.
Continuing a series that has travelled from Valencia to Istanbul and Tunis, the conference gathers researchers, practitioners and decision-makers from more than forty countries around a shared question: how do we keep land, rivers and sea functioning as the hydrological cycle changes?
From the ancient harbours of Parthenope to today’s monitored basins, Naples has always lived with water. Sustain Naples 2028 turns that heritage toward sustainable solutions.
Hosted by the Department of Civil, Architectural and Environmental Engineering (DICEA) of the University of Naples Federico II, the programme spans keynote lectures, thematic sessions, round tables and side events on innovative monitoring, hydrological modelling, ecosystem integrity and integrated water management across the Mediterranean.

Aula Magna, Via Partenope
A historic congress hall on the Naples seafront — steps from Castel dell’Ovo and the Mediterranean.
The Centro Congressi Federico II at Via Partenope places delegates directly on the Lungomare, with the Gulf of Naples and Vesuvius framing every break. A fitting setting for a conference about water: the sea is, quite literally, outside the window.
The Aula Magna offers full conference facilities — amplification, video projection, a registration secretariat, cloakroom, buffet space and full accessibility — for an in-person, single-track experience.

Founded by the Greeks as Parthenope, Naples is a city shaped by water and trade. Between sessions, delegates can step out onto the Lungomare, climb to Castel Sant’Elmo, or watch Vesuvius across the gulf.
